PROJECTS IN THE OFFICE

Are you an excellent organizer? Marsha, our Office Manager could use your help! Please email volunteer@buffaloreuse.org if you can help her out in our office, located at 158 Eaton St. behind the ReSource.

Are you a data cruncher? A numbers junkie? Business management, math or economics student or professional? Marsha is also looking for someone to do a "forensic" analysis of our deconstruction data. If you are interested in investigating the real cost of deconstruction please email Buffalo ReUse - they have a very important job for you!

The time has come to put the gardens to bed. Buffalo ReUse is calling for help to get everything in shape for cold weather. They could use help pulling dead plants, turning compost into beds, and covering everything up snuggly tight with leaves. Please join them for their open garden workdays Wednesdays 2-5pm. If you aren't available then, please email Brad, the Greenspaces Coordinator, and let him know when you can help out!

Stay tuned to the website for more info on this spectacular occasion!!

BUFFALO REUSE CONTINUES TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE ON THE EAST SIDE

In an effort to beautify Buffalo’s east side, Buffalo ReUSE will partner with Re-Tree Western New York for a fall tree care and planting event. Buffalo ReUSE invites volunteers to join them in this community-wide effort on Saturday November 6, 2010, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. A potluck meal will follow the day’s work.

Buffalo ReUSE is teaming up with Re-Tree WNY for its sixth tree planting on the east side. As part of the Buffalo ReUSE mission, the organization works to “green” east side neighborhoods by planting trees, community gardens, and vegetable plots. This fall, the tree care event will feature pruning, re-staking, and tree condition evaluation, in addition to planting. Everyone is encouraged to help; training will be available on-site during the event.

Danielle Rovillo, Volunteer Coordinator for Buffalo ReUSE had this to say about the 2010 tree care effort, “This event is great for Buffalo ReUSE and the community. Tree planting is an important part of neighborhood revitalization. This event helps beautify our streets but also raises morale, unites neighbors, promotes energy conservation, and improves air quality. ” During their partnership with Re-Tree, Buffalo ReUSE has successfully planted over 1,000 trees in east side neighborhoods.

Buffalo ReUse invites groups, families, friends, and individuals to sign up for this volunteer opportunity. Anyone interested in helping should arrive at the Buffalo ReUSE office, located at 158 Eaton Street, on November 6th at 9:00am. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a dish to pass for the post-planting potluck celebration. For additional information, please contact the main office of Buffalo ReUSE at (716) 885-4131 or email at volunteer@buffaloreuse.org.
