Volunteer opportunity in walking distance from City Honors

The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to perform the following tasks:

Prepare University at Buffalo Blood Drive materials for Spring semester. Volunteers would:

Use computer template to customize each drive and print posters/3ups
Use computer template to customize Burma sign papers-for each drive print papers and clip together
Put together a packet of needed items for each drive, list on a checklist, check off what is in packet and top packet with checklist
Get volunteer sheets ready for each drive by filling out top portion for each drive

All tasks are not too difficult, but are very time consuming. The tasks require a detail oriented person, comfortable working with office equipment like computer, copier, and cutter (to cut the 3up sheets)

This would need to be done at the Red Cross office, back building, at 786 Delaware Ave. (on the corner of Delaware and Summer).

They are looking for 2-4 students to work together at the same time over the same 2 hours.

Some tentative availability is as follows:

Mon., Dec. 16 after school for 2 hours (not sure when this is, but I have a flexible day)
Tues., Dec. 17 after school for 2 hours (not sure when this is, but I have a flexible day)
Mon., Dec. 22 after school for 2 hours (not sure when this is, but I have a flexible day)

Volunteer Opportunity in South Buffalo

The Seneca Street Community Development Corporation (SSCDC) in South Buffalo is looking for help. They are a small nonprofit in the Seneca Babcock neighborhood of South Buffalo and provide FREE after-school programming for the children of the neighborhood.

Volunteers would be placed with a group of our students to assist with homework and act as a mentor. They especially need volunteers during the months of January and May, when they are without our college students.

They are also in severe need of volunteers during the week of March 10-13.

However, volunteers are welcome at anytime. Mentors work with students M-Th from 3:30-5:30.

If you can volunteer, please contact Kristin Cook, Director of Youth Programs, at 716-462-0117 or email her at: kcookssccdc@gmail.com
