NYCLU's 2025-2026 Teen Activist Project

 

As the 2025-2026 school year kicks off, the New York Civil Liberties Union is excited to invite motivated teens to join our Teen Activist Project (TAP) – a dynamic youth leadership program dedicated to social justice, activism, and legal education. 

 

About TAP Buffalo: 

  • Meetings: Every Wednesday, 4:15-6:00 PM (in-person) 
  • Focus: Explore critical civil liberties issues, including education equity, the school-to-prison pipeline, healthcare for minors, environmental racism, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and freedom of speech
  • Opportunities: Gain hands-on training in peer education and community organizing, develop advocacy campaigns, and collaborate with professionals on issues impacting young people 
  • Benefits: Earn up to a $600 stipend or community service hours  

 

Eligibility: 

  • Age: 14 to 21 years old 
  • Location: Enrolled in a Buffalo Public School or GED program 
  • Commitment: Full school year participation required for stipend eligibility

  • Application Deadline: October 10th at 11:59 PM 
  • Meet and Greets: Mid-October (details to follow for selected applicants)
